How long do results last?

Treatment results will vary, however, in most patients the results can last up to 18 months. Touch-up treatments will maintain the results.

Possible side effects of PRP facial rejuvenation:

It is common to experience some swelling, bruising and/or redness for 12-24 hours. Some little bruising at the needle site will likely be visible. Possible larger bruises may develop which may then be present 5-14 days.

How is the PRP treatment carried out?

A small amount of blood is drawn from you and collected into a sterile tube.  The blood draw is in the exact same manner as a standard blood sample at the doctors, a needle is inserted into a vein. The tube containing a patient’s blood is placed into a centrifuge and spun to separate the plasma and platelets from the other blood components.  After a few minutes, the plasma and concentrated platelets are removed from the same tube and re-introduced into the patient at the site of the injury, scars, skin, obvious lines or wrinkles. Using a small sterile needle, our Aesthetic Nurse Louise Dunne will inject the PRP in and around the desired site. This takes approx. 45 minutes. This is an all accomplished 100 % natural procedure, without using animal products derivative or any other foreign material.

How many treatments and how often is this therapy needed?

Response to treatment is varied most clients require 1-3 sessions. Treatment is spaced 4-6 weeks apart. There isn’t a  limit to the number of treatments you can have. A treatment protocol will be tailored to suit your skin condition.

Is it safe?

Research and clinical data show PRP obtained from the patient’s own blood is safe, with very minimal risk of adverse reactions or complications. Because the platelets are produced from your own blood, there is no risk of rejection or disease transmission.
